B) Cons are great but I prefer Veja ( a french, organic, fair trade sneaker brand). The new Mediteranée model is a hybrid canvas, boat, saddle sneaker. I wore them to death when I was down in the south of France this summer and continuing to wear them here in Paris (where I NEVER wear sneakers) but still feel super chic and sporty. I have two thoughts:

They've become a staple in my mens shoots, you can never go wrong with them. I often go back and forth with my own being sparkly clean or dusty and dirty...I usually go with the sparkly clean. Old habits die hard. ;) I bought a pair of the Varvatos vintage slip ons on off white - totally forgetting about my foot surgery. *sigh* Needless to say I will definitely be wearing them in the spring.
