Travis Gumbs: Lately, I find myself becoming increasingly bored with the regular collared shirt. With that being said, the henley is now one of my many recent obsessions. There aren’t many items that cater to the same looks and purposes as the henley. It is an item that can find itself suitable in just about any situation. It can be worn casually to the gym or formally under a blazer. This unique shirt was actually named after the English town, Henley on Thames where the shirt was uniform for the rowers of the town.
The Henley that I am sporting is none other than The Brooklyn Circus. This Henley is a bit different from the average 3-5 button type. It buttons all the way down and has a two button fastener. What I love about this henley is its many small details. The white cuffs/ front placket, the leather tag and the red button stitching puts this shirt into a league of its own. This henley is very form-fitting so it is perfect to use as a layering piece. I would recommend a size up, I normally wear a medium and the large fits me perfectly. They are also available in blue and grey. Check them out here.

The Henley is most known by many as being used primarily as a sporting or an undergarment peiece.
Fit Details:
- Army Surplus hat
- BKc Henley
- Vintage Corduroy Waistcoat
- Tanner Goods Belt
- Banana Republic Camel Hair Trousers
- Clarks Desert Boots
Theres not much left to say about this outfit, most of it has been showcased and talked about on here already. The glasses are a new look; I got tired of consistently wearing contacts so opted for these Tom Ford frames. The trousers have been my favorite pants for some time now and it is sad knowing that it will soon be to warm to sport them. They are actually part of a suit. I had them tailored, cropped and double cuffed for a somewhat different look than what I’m used to. I’m looking forward to seeing how this style plays out with some other pants.

OMG!!! I love this outfit just because you have on that amazing shirt, Banana Republic pants (I work there…LOL), and I have become obsessed with the Clarks desert boot which Banana also sells. Like of all the shoes we carry for men, those stand out the most to me. =)

I love the corduroy vest especially and the rest of the outfit is nice. It’s really laid back for one of those “cool out” sunny Spring days.

I’ve never been a big fan of henleys, but you wear this one well. I can’t help but focus on that vest, though. Amazing.

That pocket square is such a crucial detail!

What a great look!!! I love it….I also see that henley’s are being used to layer with as another option to the plain crew or v neck under shirt. It adds a little bit of a surprise to an outfit…..

Trav those DB’s have a really interesting texture? Is that just wear and tear or did they come like that? And those trousers are awesome, and camel hair is probably one of the most comfortable materials out there. Great look!

I like the white cuffs, it gives an extra level of quality to the piece. The added red stitching and patch are killer. Continue to good work.

You might want to check out a book I have been reading. It’s so detail and legacy oriented it causes me anxiety. I can only take small doses at a time. It’s called Shirtmaking: Developing Skills for Fine Sewing by David Page Coffin. He’s a master shirt maker and only makes shirts and seems to live and breath them. Every collar type, pocket, pleat, cuff etc is listed and explored. I’m not suggesting you make shirts, though who knows, but if you want detail obsession and history this intense book will give you a heart attack in a good way.

Love the site! Your Picture answers a question I had just this morning. ” Do the colors of your clothes have to be an perfect match.
You all have also dealt items and introduced me to items of clothing that I may not have considered before!
Thanx
