JKISSI : It has been a year, or so since I have been on the search for the perfect pair of eye glasses for myself. There are so many different styles from modern eyewear to retro, which can make the search even more challenging to accomplish. In a few select looks on the site you can see me wearing a pair of glasses which I eventually grew tired of. There is a lot to consider when buying your own pair of eye glasses, depending on your personal taste and appearance it can vary. After receiving many recommendations from friends on twitter, I embarked on my own silent journey to find the best eyewear for myself. I wasn’t necessarily looking for the best glasses money could buy, but something classic and that’s exactly what I found. My days of being forced to sit in the very front row of classes in school are now finally over (lol) thanks to the Shuron Ronsir Zyl.

The classic American eye wear company Shuron has been manufacturing glasses to the public ever since 1865 . This alone attracted me to the brand even more knowing that quality products played a important role in their longevity. The specific style that caught my eye were the Browline glasses which aren’t made by a lot of companies today, but Shuron still produces them. Brow line glasses were invented in 1947 by Jack Rohrbach, then vice-president of Shuron Ltd. The Ronsirs are one of the more significant frame designs of the 20th century, totalling up half of the sales sold during the 1950s. The company Shuron provided me with great customer service answering all of my sometimes tedious questions. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for great quality eye wear from a company that has been producing glasses for decades now.

It’s great that we can still grab what was considered a trend in the 1950s and still wear it today. This style of glasses probably looks a bit familiar to some with recognizable people such as Malcolm X to JFK wearing Browline style frames. This will not be the last time you will see me wearing a pair of Shuron glasses.
Special thanks to Chris Watchhorn and It’s Bongo Boy for helping me capture the first two pictures.
JKISSI : Style, in my opinion can be defined as your body being a blank canvas where you have the choice to make a personal statement to the outside world. There are a number of various parts that accompany your style, such as making your outfits into a body of art by incorporating palettes and textures. There is a distinct difference between style and fashion, which I think people get confused without even knowing so. The majority of our newer readers are probably unaware that I and Travis weren’t always dressed this way. This idea originally stemmed from a previous blog post we posted up about the elements of the “WDYWT” ( What Did You Wear Today ) around individual fashion forums. The thought of myself wearing anything similar to what I wear today four years ago would’ve made me laugh at myself. The important aspect about evolution in style is that it doesn’t occur overnight, it’s more of series of events that happen to you over time. Personally, for me it went from “I could never wear a button up shirt“ to “Ok, I like this , but I could never tuck in my shirt into my pants” and it kept continuing from there. This kind of thought really widens your eyes to different ways of incorporating things you see into your style. It’s often in interviews and general questions people ask “Who am I inspired by? I constantly answer that ordinary people who walk the street with distinctive style inspire me.
Even though my sense of style has changed, there is still multiple stacks of sneaker boxes in my room. I still love sneakers, but as cliche as this sounds I’m not in love with them. I recently did a post titled “Losing My ‘Sole’” which was kind of a farewell to the sneaker game, and everything involved. This post is not relaying the message that everyone needs to alter their style at one point, but it would be a good idea!
I personally feel like so many people could relate to us, and that’s why the site attracts people of all demographics from all over the world. The site has seemed to be on the same parallel as our style, it has changed dramatically from when Travis and I first started. We tried to increase the importance of content and presentation of the site in general , and it seems to be working. Working, something we won’t stop doing definitely more to come the table.

JKISSI : This post is probably one of the most anticipated post concerning accessories, especially the ones I and Trav wear. The topic of accessories are so broad that we decided to fraction this topic up largely focusing on wrist ornaments in this volume. It never occurred to me how needed accessories are, until recently I found myself stumbling all over my room looking for specific beads that I own. We are all aware about how accessories can appear so in dept when it comes to our female counterparts. When it comes to males it seems the term “accessories” gets thrown around much more lightly , maybe because people feel it holds some sort of femininity. I feel like the majority of guys need to dapple around with accessories , and I’m not talking about the “live-strong” bands even though those are alright. Just the addition of simple beads depending on the coloring can make a big difference in your own outfit. In terms of variety there is a vast amount of hand accessories for men if you are looking for some to wear. We receive constant emails daily about the accessories we wear showing that people are interested, but are just unaware as where to purchase them.

We featured some of our friends in NYC to participate on this post to display how accessories are suppose to be worn. We want to thank everyone who took part in this post.

My good friend and fellow Bronx resident photographer Kadeem J. probably had the most interesting introspective when talking about his own accessories. You may look at all of the ornaments on his hand and think it’s just full of random stuff, but each seemed to have its own sort of meaning. He explained to me further on how some of them were given to him by good friends , and others made by himself from old leather shoe laces which I thought that was very creative.

The cool Sham of Lateboots took part in the accessories post without even being notified in advance. Very nice ensemble here with a nice touch by including the scarf. This shows that just a simple nice watch can go a long way

Bevin from The Brooklyn Circus made an appearance for the accessories post. I would call him one of the best at using his visual skills to bring forth some new ways to wear various accessories. He told us where each ornament was by and from, it was real interesting to know the actual brands of each of them. I must say the silk scarf used as a hand accessory was a very good idea, I would’ve never thought of it to be honest.

The wrist accessories I and Trav are wearing are pictured above from these great companies. I ultimately chose the tan double strap bracelet because if you wear it enough the color begins to wear in giving it a beautiful color at the end. The Billy Kirk bracelet looks even better in person than it looks above especially the burgundy color that Trav has with gold brass braces. To purchase them click on the links below. The wooden beads we always wear are from Topman.
