JKISSI : Recently we had the great opportunity of being interviewed by The Supermelon , a great fashion site that caters predominately to females. Since they have spawned their Real Style feature I have always been a fan of reading various interviews just to pick the brain of the individuals. We are nothing short of honored to be the first males to be interviewed by the site , it has been a great experience. Never has there been a time where both I and Travis are being asked questions that could give you possible hints for our future. We discussed everything from the start up of Street Etiquette to how being from The Bronx effects our mindset. It has been a long journey exactly one year since Street Etiquette has existed and I must say it feels great. We want to thank everyone for even checking out site and commenting we will always be grateful. Special thanks to The Supermelon and their whole staff for the interview. Definitely more to come.

Trav, my favorite is when you’re in the white oxford and khaki pants and sand boots.

I just looked at the interview and saw a few pages of the archives. I think it’s great that you guys are trying to change perceptions of a place you love. I live on the west, so I can say that a lot of what I know isn’t from experience but from people like you. It’s so nice to see a blog by two stylish people with their own ethos and set of ambitions.

Reading this interview, I’m more inspired to run out and shoot for 72 hours straight…ok, I know that’s physically impossible but I digress. Oh, and Josh and Trav, if you guys are worried about the Bx being in the bottom of the barrel style wise, here’s some uplifting news for you, The Bronx is #3 by default, Queens and Staten Island are in the basement…and in that order….

Seriously…how is Queens in the basement???
LL Cool J and Run DMC both hail from queens, and inspired hip hop fashion since the 80′s.

What has Brooklyn ever done to influence fashion?

im from NY, i have some cousins from soundview.

but what i dig more is that you guys are representing for

    so well portrays!

I’ll give you Run DMC but LL hasn’t done more for fashion than Jay-Z or Notorious B.I.G. has and both are major fashion influences as well. When most think of Timberland’s and high fashion labels like Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren in the 90′s and it’s urban beginnings, Brooklyn is first to come to mind. For better or for worse, Karl Kani even had a good run in the early to mid 90′s and was one of the first (if not the first) to have an urban label which birthed tons of other labels (Sean John, Phat Farm, Rocawear just to name a few) and copy cats.

I’ll take Karl Kani any day over FUBU (lol!). Even now in recent years, Brooklyn is relatively known as the most fashionable borough not named Manhattan. You can go through Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO or any of the hipster neighborhoods in Brooklyn and you’ll find not only fashionable and trendsetting people but businesses as well. Can you honestly say the same for Queens, outside of L.I.C. or Astoria?

BTW: It’s the birthplace of Michael Jordan. Need I say more?

I agree with JFKjean he just lol crushed goke BK is #1 in my mind Queens hasn’t done anything to be given a stamp of approval. Queens go back to the drawing board!

“JK: The Bronx is the last borough left untainted from any effects of gentrification in New York City.”

it’s sad to see one borough after another go through such a process. At one point, right off the train, it took me a second to recognize a certain corner of Chinatown.

All in all, good interview though!
