JKISSI : I never was really a big fan of shorts in general , but this time around I have found a whole new appreciation for them. People often ask me “Hey josh do you ever wear shorts apart from wearing jeans?” I usually answer “no” because of different reasons. The first is I was always working on some sort of raw denim project expecting an epic fade outcome. If you guys remember last summer I was working on my A.P.C New Cures that were ruined by the hands of a inexperienced tailor. I know for a fact last summer shorts were not a choice in my wardrobe at all, even when it was 99 F pants were worn. The second reason is that before I had never found any shorts to really compliment my outfits. There is always a discussion on how short you would want your shorts to be length wise, while still being comfortable. I can’t obviously dictate what other people wear, but my principle is just slightly above the knee not showing too much skin. Given the circumstances of the perfect weather NYC was blessed with today a post about shorts was perfect.

By now you guys know I love grabbing pictures from the Sartorialist to use in my post to convey my ideas even more vividly. I usually search all around the web to look for pictures to represent what I’m trying to say, but I have found that Scott Schuman always comes through perfectly. As you can see below each gentlemen below is wearing shorts with a different kind of style to the shorts , and the individual.
Shorts are made in different lengths, styles and colors that I think can fit anyone looking for the right style. From pleaded to tailored shorts, a plethora of styles made for everyone to pick at least one. Pictured below are shorts I grabbed from around the Internet from budgeting price ranges to more pricier pieces.

I just don’t have the legs for em’(that’s my excuse)
Yeah I totally have a love-hate relationship with shorts. I didn’t wear them all through high school and undergrad unless I was playing sports. But now I’m slowly finding pieces I like. Is it weird that I think clarks and shorts were made for each other? Also 90 bucks for those Hickey shorts? I’m sold.
My dude Joshua got those African legs. Me too. I wear shorts all the time though.

Ryan, great minds think alike man, with that its something that has become a staple with me as I started to venture into what styles I liked and how I wanted to wear them. I like it to look slim and fitted with sleeves rolled up something I will continue to do with most of my shirts on most occasions. It all depends though.

I’m also a person who rarely ever wears shorts. To be completely honest, the only time I wear shorts outside my house is to the beach – anyplace else, jeans are worn. I use to wear cargos here and there but now they don’t work with my current wardrobe.

I too have a love/hate relationship with shorts and even though I actually own ones that go above the knee, I don’t really use them as much as I know I can..however you display in a very tailored and elevated way, I’m leaning more towards rotating them into my off work casual outfits….

I’m a recent convert to wearing shorts in the city too. I always used to just associate them with something to wear on the beach or on holiday.
I really like how you mix the formal shirt and pocket square yet still keep the whole look very relaxed.

I feel the same way, over the last few years I may have owned 1-2 pairs of shorts. They just weren’t my thing, over the past year though coming into my own style and keeping up with the trends I have become more accustom to them though.

Shorts all make me a little nervous. There are just too many horror stories walking the streets when the sun comes out that I tend to play it safe. You certainly wear them well here and have picked a nice bunch…with a trip to Marrakesh fast approaching I really should bite the bullet and pick up a few pairs.

Second, you have a great outfit right here. I know a lot of guys don’t feel comfortable with shorts.
I personnally used to feel awkward wearing them but after 2 years in the Caribbean, they’ve become essential in my wardrobe even though I’m back in France. They actually match many different typoes of styles, moods, etc…
Rolled up over the knee is my way of wearing them too, just like you did. Looks good with thin legs.
