Shoes & Etiquette Intertwined Etiquette Read  -  General Style 30 Comments

JKISSI : Yes, shoes guys. I wish my shoe collection was comparable to my sneaker collection , but that would be a lie.  The fact that shoes can be worn formally, or casually depending on the scenario intrigues me. I could think back to the days of wearing square toed shoes, which If I may add hated wearing. You could be the most devote ‘sneakerhead’ on this planet, but every man will come upon a time in his life where you need to have a good pair of shoes in handy. There is just so many we could choose from, it  can vary from loafers to bucks , which I am pictured below wearing. Shoes has been apart of the proper etiquette attire universally for decades now.

For men and women we should be on different planets when it comes to shoes. In particular women could live off of shoes with various styles, colors, and lengths. This brings to mind our friend Jane, who has become recognized all over the Internet for having a crazy shoe collection people three times her age don’t have. For the average man its quite different is more of a ”If I NEED a pair of shoes I will purchase them”. The day is changing and men are becoming more involved and conscious in their selection of shoes.

I would recommend a forum like Style Forum to broaden your horizon on shoes. I took the time out to just pair various shoes together that I felt was needed in my life below.  Shoes , just like with anything possess important factors ,which are price point, quality and the process on how they’re made. The price should be important because you don’t have to purchase the most expensive pair of shoes to feel you are doing it right. I’m a person who would rather purchase the less expensive item which still holds some quality to it.  The Church shoes pictured below are three, and four times the price of the other shoes listed.  To be perfectly honest I would only purchase them if the purchase didn’t effect my funds tooi much(lol), excellent pair of shoes none the less.

1. Allen-Edmonds – Everson – $264.00

2. Sebago Classic Shoes – $129.00

3. Surface 2 Air – Blue Suede Shoes – $273.00

4. Church’s – Diplomat – $717.00

Have something to say?

I’m a firm believer in the importance of presentation and I think that a great pair of shoes can really make people take you seriously.
Those J.Crew Bucks look amazing and really does the outfit justice jkiss but that handkerchief or what ever is hanging out of your back pocket is kind of like an ugly duckling in the swan pond – if you know what i mean lol

yes, very important. Shoes aren’t that bad to wear casually imo. I guess i’m used to them because of my school uniform in which i wore a pair of Bass dirty bucs 5 days a week. I want a new pair of loafers though. Nice fit btw!

    this is a good post..
    great intro into the evolution
    of the footwear collection.
those J Crew Bucks are nice
    but lemme ask tho!?
when you look at your old sneaker collection.
do you find them harder to wear!? or do you still pull them out!?
now-a-days i look at half my closest like…
“what am i gonna do with this stuff, i can’t even wear it any more”
certain things can still pass, but the majority just doesn’t cut it anymore for me.
my footwear collection is starting to build tho, little by little.
so im with you with “the shoe!”
im noticing tho, with shoes also brings a hunger for pants, and trousers
and unique head and neck wear. also watches.. im looking for a smooth time piece that matches me.
    lol, it’s crazy whats happening..

I think the bucks are a little bulky, and the pocket square/handkerchief or what have you is out of place.
But I definitely like where you are going with this.

Riche, That is what I tried to depict to the readers glad you go the point man, and the pocketsquare wouldnt look that sloppy the way it is in that particular picture, it is what it is though cant change the picture lol only took one , no complaining here though I’ll just ride with it.

Mush the kid, thanks man appreciate it waiting for that blog you said you go instored.

Pretaporter, Yeah i love the Jcrew bucks myself and those blue suede shoes are sick! i know lol

Reggie, Thanks man I Ufigured you went to a uniform school though for some reason bucks five days a week is cool! lol I wen to public school all my life which obviously didn’t require uniforms. Its cool though live and learn lol.

Kenny, man you already know props to you man.

Squincy, Thanks man with the sneaker I will be honest I do find them harder to wear because I mostly wear oxfords and such and it would look kind of akward with most of my sneakers. Its like if im going to wear sneakers my whole oufit has to be like real casual and chill. It seems were in the same boat man lol

James, thanks yeah I checked out Aldo before cool place.

Attila, Yeah man bucks are bulky lol hence the name but I still really like them to that extent yeah I explained the pocket square siuation up there it wouldnt look like that too much, but no excuses

Alexandre Brilhante , Yeah man I agree with you Alex , but at the same time overall oufit is important for presentation.

The J Crew Bucks go in. In truth, I actually like the pocket scarf lol… I have these tiny pucci scarves that my mother used to own(she probably still thinks she does lol), and I tend to let one hang from the back pocket now and again, so I appreciate the look. I feel like it adds a nice pop of color if I am wearing muted colors. As far as the shoes posted, the allen edmonds have always done it for me, and those shoes don’t disappoint.

To piggy back off what squincy said, I find that a modicum of my sneakers are currently working with the general look I’m going for. I’ll always consider myself a sneakerhead, but I feel like the types of sneakers, as everything in life, generally has to evolve with time. For example, my sb collection will probably be passed on to the younger brother in a year or so, while I will be able to still get a good amount of usage out of my pf flyers, jack purcells, and a lot of my vans.

Good post though brother, keep up the good work.

Oh and I just got on lookbook, you got some crazy looks on there kid…

For the most part, i’m good on wearing shoes with casually with my jeans and stuff, its just not my thing… I think everyone should have a nice pair of shoes for there suits and those “I need a promotion” months at work… But i don’t think i’ll be wearing shoes while i’m just out chillin.. I think it seems stiff… I still really pushing high end sneakers, muted but stylish sneakers, boots, and even boat shoes,
As always you make it look cool though bro…

Lefty, Yes man it really can depending on your kind of style of course , and thanks bro we trying to keep this thing going for a long time! lol

Coldsun, I sere where your opinion is coming from like you did recognize when you need that “promotion” you could a lil bit more harder, and for occasions and such. I dont think you should sport shoes everyday thats a bit much for majority of people, unles their style really allows it.

Mat Ahoy, Once I read patent tassel loafers lol almost died man, if you could get a picture of those up some how that would be awesome man. Back to topic though yeah man it really does provide some good versatility. Nice blog by the way checked it out and commented on some interesting stuff. Keep up the good work on your side also man.

Deetruth, LOL man I do man , not frequently, but I never ever posted up a outfit of me in shorts, but trust me that will be happening this summer. People at my job asked the same question , I had to laugh at seeing it on here too.

Ayana Campbell, Thanks we really appreciate it checked yours out pretty cool keep it up also!

Thanks for all the comments if you guys could respond back to anything that would be great.

First off dope fit once again Josh. The shoes are really doing the kick for me.

You did good on pointing out the sneaker/shoe thing. I once was a big sneakerhead myself, still have a lot of them left but with me growing up and getting older I can’t find myself wearing them to much anymore. I think it’s a evolution most of us are expering when reaching the twenties. A nice pair of shoes is always a plus and often give a fit that “extra” edge.

As far as my liking towards the right model goes I’m a sucker for roundtoe shoes. Squared just isn’t for me.

Of the four posted the third would def. be my favorite choice. Besides the shape the color is doing it for me.

As always keep up the good work.

I def. love shoes. I often wear suede Bass oxfords. I usually dress it down with crisp skinny jeans and a hot shirt. At first, people would laugh at my bucks and jeans. But now, they just sit there and look dumb. Love the site, Keep it comin!

Personally the Common Projects Achilles is perfect balance of a shoe that can be worn with a suit, or worn with more urban look, by urban I mean jeans. I own the classic all black pair, and wear them occasionally. Yes a bit pricey, but I’m sure we have spent $250 on a pair of sneakers in the past.

        posted on June 10 , 2009 :

Rez, no problem man I know your a long time reader of the blog , how do you like the recent changes

Lucas, I definitely agree with you man as soon as I left high school a lot of the sneaker thing went out the window, or atleast it gradually started to diminish. Thanks for the props man I appreciate the comment always dropping knowledge.

SCOTTZ, Nice suede bass oxfords your fit sounds good man , dont worry about people who laugh at you man your doing it right. Thanks man keep checking it out!

I’m Just Saying, Yeah man the Achilles are nice as hell I have the black suede/leather ones the quality is definitely up there and function your right can be worn with a lot of things. It’s not pricey at all when thinking about the quality and design of the shoe it could be much more worst. The safari highs are also nice but couldnt really pull off a much more formal look like the Achilles in my opinion.
