Trav: Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers was one of the original swing dance groups out of Harlem. The group, started by Herbert “Whitey” White in 1935, performed regularly at the Savoy Ballroom. The Savoy Ballroom was a ballroom in New York that was home for music and dancing during the Harlem Renaissance. The Lindy Hoppers are surely nothing short of amazing. Their revolutionary, hyperactive, dance moves paved the way for many succeeding dance craves. You can see elements of the break dance and other popular dances of today in their unique style. I was fortunate enough to find some of their videos on youtube, and i was glued to the screen for hours. So .Below is a compilation of pictures and videos for your viewing pleasure. Peep that style and smoothness that these people possess. Gotta love it.

They need to start teaching these dances, I would love to learn it, it looks so much more passionate than the new sex on the floor dances, haha.

Chichi, this style of dance is actually taught currently. It’s called Savoy Lindy Hop, since it was danced at the Savoy ballroom. I would highly suggest giving it a try sometime, it’s quite exhilarating!
