JKISSI : I don’t think this will go good for H&M, I mean I’m not a business savvy person who know which moves companies should do and should it benefit them. H&M could open up a store there just to do it, I guess to have an Asian presence also since they have already taken over the U.S The quality and prices are just inferior to the stores in Japan, especially when Japan is kind of Uniqlo’s house, and now H&M wants in. Maybe that CDG X H&M Collabo will hype it up or something , but I don’t see anything evolutionary happening here (lol). No hating here though, congratulations to them as a company with the expansion.
How do you think H&M will do?

High Snobiety :
It took a while, but this weekend the first H&M store opened its doors in Japan in the Ginza district. The grand opening of the store began with a ribbon cut by CEO Rolf Eriksen and Christine Edman, H&M’s country manager in Japan, which led the 5000 people who queued (crazy) to flow into the sparkling new store.
H&M GINZA have approximately 1000m2 of sales area over four floors, from basement to 3rd floor, exhibiting Womens, Mens, and Accessories concepts.
The arrival of H&M in Japan will be properly celebrated with the Comme Des GarconsFor H&M collection , next month.

If they brand it, they will come.
The CdG collab will bring in a lot of people, also the look is different and more youth friendly than Uniqlo. If they play it off right, then they should do fine. I mean I personally see H&M making a killing off of the HS age female rather than people who are choosy about what they wear.

I gotta agree with camthrax the majority of people in JP aren’t label whores that’s only in the US. they wear what they feel and make their own style they don’t let the designers decide whats hot and whats not besides it’s mad expensive in tokyo so H&M will prob cater to HS and college tastemakers

I somehwat agree with you guys up there but i cant help but say that H&M’s quality is bad, they have better stepped it up. I bought a jacket and as soon as i wnet home to try it on both of the sleeves just ripped on me, thats H&M quality for you .

Im very curious to see how H&M does over there.. my main conclusion though without me typing an essay is that they will have a good presence there but nothing too drastic as their competition there.

I lived in Japan and the Japanese are all about QUALITY.
I don’t remember seeing H and M but since I don’t shop there I can’t say if it was ever busy.
If you don’t know the Japanese are the most stylish people on the planet.
